DICK POWELL'S ZANE GREY THEATRE: PROUD WOMAN (TV)

Summary

One in this western anthology series hosted by Dick Powell, based on the works of Zane Grey. Powell makes introductory comments about the Spanish influence on the American West.

In this episode, the owner of a horse ranch hires a lonely drifter who is involved in a scheme to steal the rancher's prize stallion. The ranch is run by Consuella, a young woman who has managed the operation of the ranch since her father, Don Miguel, was crippled by the stallion. Don Miguel hires Frayne, hoping that his presence will bring out Consuella's feminity, not suspecting that Frayne has been hired by an unscrupulous man named Carson to steal the stallion. Consuella and Frayne are drawn to each other, and Frayne is torn between his growing attraction to his beautiful boss and the dishonest task that he has been hired to carry out. Commercials deleted.
