RAMONA: THE GREAT HAIR ARGUMENT (TV)

Summary

One in this ten-part children's series about the life of Ramona Quimby, a rambunctious child with a flair for causing mishaps. In this episode, Ramona's sister, Beezus, refuses to allow her mother to cut her hair. Since Beezus is going to attend a party, she feels that a beauty salon would give her a more stylish hairdo. Her mother reminds Beezus that salons cost money and that the Quimby family must scrimp and save. But Beezus offers to buy herself a haircut at a beauty school, where haircuts are less expensive than at regular salons, so Mrs. Quimby gives up trying to argue with her daughter. While Beezus is being primped, the manager of the school offers to give the fidgety Ramona a complimentary haircut. Ramona is pleased with her new pixie cut, but Beezus, however, is horrified with her new look. Beezus requires the skills of both Mrs. Quimby and trusty Aunt Bea to shampoo and restyle her hair in time for the party that evening. As the program concludes, Ramona learns that a new haircut can have peculiar effects on the way she is viewed by her friends.
