DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D.: DOOGENSTEIN {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about teenage genius Doogie Howser, M.D., the youngest doctor in the country, who attempts to live his life as a normal adolescent. In this episode, Doogie is having recurring nightmares about creating a monster that is identical to him. During one of the sessions with his psychologist, Doogie explains the dream and wonders whether he has been missing out on his youth because of his life as a doctor. On his seventeenth birthday, Doogie successfully banishes his parents from his pool party in order to be carefree and ogle the girls in their bikinis. However, Doogie's is summoned to the hospital just as the party begins. As Doogie tends to a teenager who has fallen off his motorcycle, the boy's father goes into a tirade about his son riding such a dangerous vehicle. While yelling at his son, the father collapses from chest pains and Doogie springs into action to save the man's life. Despite the hospital's care, the father dies in the recovery room. The next day, Doogie watches the videotape of his birthday party and realizes that, while there will be lots of time to practice medicine, his youth is slipping away. Doogie arranges to resign from the hospital, until he runs into the dead man's son, who thanks the young doctor for everything he did. Commercials deleted.
