MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD: MGR-TV IS ON THE AIR {DAY 1} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of programs for young children, hosted by Fred Rogers, which uses puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. In this episode, Mister Rogers shows his neighborhood friends how he and other puppeteers bring the characters of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe to life. First, Mister Rogers demonstrates the various puppets for which he creates voices. Next he shares a short film featuring himself and puppeteer W.P. Barker working in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Next, he visits Bob Trow, who demonstrates how he makes Harriett Elizabeth Cow talk. Later, in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where hand-puppet characters interact with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII, Clemmons takes photographs of Bob Dog. They visit Lady Elaine Fairchild, who announces that she is going to start her own television station. Lady Elaine gives Francois Clemmons and Bob Dog a tour of her new studio, and then Lady Elaine invites Bob Dog to perform a dance on her "talk show." Afterwards, Francois Clemmons and Yoshi Ito sing "Pretending."
