HOWDY DOODY TIME {HOWDY FOR PRESIDENT, 1952} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of children's programs featuring marionette Howdy Doody, hosted by Buffalo Bob Smith, and cheered on by the Peanut Gallery, a bleacher full of rambunctious children. In this episode, the continuing quest to discover the identity of Mr. X, Howdy's mysterious opponent in the presidential campaign, reaches a standstill when Phineas T. Bluster forbids Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob from asking questions for one month. Undeterred, Buffalo Bob seeks help from Lanky Lou, who has been behaving rather peculiarly; and Clarabell has a clue that might help the case -- but Buffalo Bob is too preoccupied to notice. Additionally, Buffalo Bob presents and narrates an Olde Time Movie, "A Close Shave," about a novice barber. Includes commercial endorsements by Buffalo Bob, Clarabell and Oil Well Willie for Kellogg's Rice Krispies and Colgate toothpaste.
