CAGNEY & LACEY {CAGNEY AND LACEY}: THE RETURN {TV MOVIE} (TV)
Summary
This television movie, based on the police drama series about the professional and personal lives of policewomen Chris Cagney and Mary Beth Lacey, brings the characters and the stars back together several years after the program's final episode. Cagney is now doing investigative work for the district attorney and has a wealthy new husband; Lacey has retired from the force. The former partners hardly see each other anymore, but Lacey and her husband Harvey go to a party at Cagney's house in honor of Lieutenant Samuels's retirement. At the party, Harvey suffers a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. That night, a massive gun heist takes place, and Cagney is assigned to the case. Meanwhile, Lacey, who has been looking for a job, starts working as Cagney's assistant in the district attorney's office. Cagney begins her investigation by questioning an international weapons dealer, and she makes up her mind that he is behind the heist. Cagney and Lacey next question Deborah Nelson, the widow of a police officer who was killed at the scene of the crime. While Lacey struggles to reorient herself as an investigator, Cagney experiences ambivalent feelings about a new job her husband is planning to take. Their case takes a turn for the better when the gun found at a gang shooting in the Bronx turns out to be one of the stolen weapons. Cagney and Lacey trace it to the supplier, and he leads them down the road to solving the case. Commercials deleted.
