LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN {MARTIN LAWRENCE, PHIL COLLINS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night talk shows hosted by David Letterman. This program features actor/comedian Martin Lawrence and pop singer/musician Phil Collins. Following his monologue, Letterman invites the viewers into his "living room," where he greets young trick-or-treaters who come to his door in very special Halloween costumes, including a boy dressed as "Lyle Lovett's hair," a little girl costumed as "the fast-food ketchup packet that's been in your glove compartment for six years," and a girl portraying "Barney (the purple dinosaur) after he's been hit by an eighteen-wheeler." After the sketch, Letterman delivers the Top Ten List: "Signs You Got a Bad Flu Shot." First guest Martin Lawrence talks about his early aspirations as a boxer; his job working as a floor buffer; the weight fluctuations of Oprah Winfrey and Luther Vandross; and his television series, "Martin." Next, Letterman presents a remote segment in which he and Paul Shaffer play a game of golf, with a sumo wrestler caddy, to the strains of "Walking on Sunshine." Finally Phil Collins performs a cut from his album, "Both Sides"; briefly chats with Letterman; and, at Letterman's request, plays the drums with the band. Commercials deleted. (This tape has full commercial break blackouts, generally about two minutes long. The Late Show band plays on throughout blackout.)
