MADELINE: MADELINE AND THE SINGING DOG (TV)
Summary
One in this series of animated programs based on Ludwig Bemelmans's classic children's books about Madeline, a feisty little girl who lives at a boarding school in Paris. In this episode, narrated by actor Christopher Plummer, Miss Clavel takes Madeline, her classmates, and their dog Genevieve to the opera. Unfortunately, Genevieve cannot help but sing along with the baritone on stage. Miss Clavel and her students are asked to leave the opera house immediately. As punishment for her behavior, Genevieve is ordered to sleep outside for the night. That evening an impressario, who was impressed by the dog's talents, entices Genevieve to leave with him. The next day, the girls are dismayed when they cannot find their canine chum. They search the streets of Paris for Genevieve, but have no luck locating the lost pet. As they are about to give up, Madeline spots a sign with Genevieve's picture, promoting the the singing dog's performance at a cabaret. Miss Clavel takes her twelve girls to the cabaret so that they can retrieve their pet. The girls are shocked, however, when they discover that Genevieve does not wish to return with them. Madeline, of course, comes up with an ingenious plan to win Genevieve back. Commercials deleted.
