NYPD BLUE: TORAH! TORAH! TORAH! (TV)
Summary
One in this series of rough-edged police dramas about the cases and private lives of the detectives and station house personnel of a Manhattan precinct. In this episode, the brutal stabbing of a young woman leads Detectives Simone and Sipowicz to question her mentally-retarded brother who was in the apartment at the time. Also, Detective Medavoy investigates the robbery of a Torah from a synagogue. In the interview room, Simone questions Frank, the mentally-retarded man, about his quick temper and what may have happened to his sister. Frank claims he had nothing to do with the murder but the detectives are not certain about that. Meanwhile, Costas's pregnancy test comes back positive which makes Sipowicz both very happy but also nervous. She wants to keep the news confidential for the time being but Sipowicz can't keep it to himself. Simone has a hunch that the recent murder is possibly linked to a series of murders and gets information from Detective Morrissey, who has been working on those murders. The Rabbi tells Medavoy that the thief has demanded money for the return of the Torah. He and Sipowicz go undercover to catch the thieves and return the sacred item to the synagogue. Costas comes looking for Sipowicz to have lunch, and everyone in the station house treats her with extra care. Simone and Detective Russell question Mr. Squires, who may have some sort of tie with the murders. Squires denies the charges until Simone presents evidence pinning Squires to the murders. Squires begins to confess to the detectives, in detail, how and why he committed these murders. Sipowicz comes home and Costas is upset that he couldn't keep the news to himself, but understands how he must be feeling. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
