GOLDIE & LIZA TOGETHER (TV)

Summary

This musical special is presented as a series of segments leading up to a final production featuring Goldie Hawn and Liza Minnelli. Hawn and Minnelli begin on their first day of production singing two separate songs about working together that become a duet by virtue of a split screen. On their third day of rehearsal, the two stars showcase their solo routines for each other with the help of back up-singers and dancers; Hawn performs "Y.M.C.A." in a locker room with resident athletes, and Minnelli croons "Bad Girls" with the help of some ladies of the evening. While rummaging through the studio's wardrobe department, the stars find some mismatched clown-like outfits and sing and dance to a whimsical rendition of "One Step." Their next day's activity takes place in the recording studio, where, after numerous false starts, they perform the duet "The Other Woman." During a lunch break the two pals reminisce about their idea of doing a play in which two roommates come to blows and an ultimate understanding when one of them decides to marry. In the finale, presented as an actual performance, Hawn and Minnelli sing and dance to "It's What You Can," followed by "All That Jazz" from "Chicago." They end the evening cementing their friendship with "Gypsy's" "Together, Wherever We Go."
