FASHION: DEBBIE HARRY AND FRIENDS {ANDY WARHOL'S
TV} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of talk/interview programs, loosely
adapted from Andy Warhol's Interview magazine. This
edition features interviews with Debbie Harry and
friends on the subject of fashion. The program opens
with the music video for BlondieÕs song "Heart of
Glass." Berry Berenson Perkins then interviews Harry,
leading to a discussion of the following: HarryÕs
experiences singing since her childhood; the challenges
of performing as a rock star; the style of clothing she
wore during performances with the group "The Stilettos";
her one experience designing her own clothing; and the
current fashions she wears, designed by Steven Sprouse.
Sprouse then joins Perkins and Harry, and he explains
that Harry inspired him to design clothes and take up
silk screening. Next, Harry, Chris Royes, Dennis
Christopher, and Paul Palmero pose in several of
SprouseÕs designs to the beat of the Blondie song
"Accidents Never Happen." Harry then takes a turn as
interviewer, and she speaks with the British band Levi
and the Rockats about the group's sense of style. They
comment on the different categories of styles in
England, such as punk, hep cat, teddy, and skin head;
and they talk about the evolution of certain trends.
The band members--Eddie Dibbles, Smutty Smiff, Levi
Dexter, and Guy Hemmer--pose while a running
commentary is given on their individual items of
clothing and general fashion sense. The program
concludes with previews for "Fashion" episodes in
November and December.
Cataloging of this program was made possible by the
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, 1999.
