LARRY SANDERS SHOW, THE: MY NAME IS ASHER KINGSLEY (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series starring Garry Shandling as Larry Sanders, a late-night talk show host. In this episode, Hank rediscovers his religious faith -- Judiasm -- and his enthusiasm is getting on everyone's nerves. Meanwhile, Larry gets a massage chair to help him relax after stressful days of work, and he is forever grateful to Artie for the gift. Artie tells Hank that he should keep his religion to himself, especially when they are on the air, because it could disrupt staff morale. Hank brings his rabbi to the studio for a tour and she accepts his plea to join her congregation. That evening, the show is moving along smoothly until Hank interrupts Larry to recite a passage from the Talmud and put on his yarmulke. Hank tells Artie that he will wear the yarmulke on the show to express his religious freedom. The network executives feel that Hank's newfound spirituality will hurt the ratings and demand that Artie handle the situation. In the meantime, Larry senses that someone has been sitting in his massage chair and has a security system installed. Upon Hank's staunch refusal to abandon the yarmulke on the air, Artie finds a way to satisfy the network. During a performance by the band They Might Be Giants, Hank tells his rabbi that he is attracted to her, but she does not have the same feelings. And Artie finally gets Hank to stop wearing the yarmulke with the help of Hank's fan mail.
