HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET: NARCISSUS (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic police series about a department of reflective homicide detectives in Baltimore, Maryland. In this episode, the investigation of the murder of a militant organization member draws mysterious attention from the department brass. Lieutenant Giardello assigns Detectives Pembleton and Munch to the case, but is repeatedly confronted by Colonel Barnfather and Captain Gaffney regarding all the information about the case. The suspect in the shooting is hiding out in the organization's headquarters, which is run by a former cop, and Gaffney orders Pembleton to withdraw the order to storm the headquarters. However, Pembleton stands-up to Gaffney and demands that the headquarters be broken into. A witness is willing to help the detectives in any way possible, but Gaffney pulls rank on the detectives once again. When Giardello finds out that the leader of the group is a former cop, he begins to wonder exactly why Gaffney and Barnfather are so involved. The witness claims that the leader is involved with the shooting and agrees to wear a wire inside the headquarters to obtain information. Giardello and the detectives orchestrate a tricky legal tactic to make their suspect talk about the shooting and the activities of the organization. They go to execute an arrest warrant for the leader, who does not come quietly, and a riot situation develops. Giardello goes into the headquarters to talk with the leader instead of having the police storm the place. After Giardello leaves the headquarters, a stand-off begins and concludes -- with fatal results. Commercials deleted.
