GOOSEBUMPS: ATTACK OF THE MUTANT {PARTS 1 AND 2} (TV)

Summary

Parts one and two. One in this children's series, based on the stories of R.L. Stine, featuring spooky tales that are intended to leave viewers with goosebumps. In part one of this tale, a boy named Skipper finds that comic book fantasies can get out of hand. Although his father tells him to spend less time reading comics, Skipper cannot resist reading each new, exciting tale of the evil Masked Mutant. One day on the bus, Skipper meets a girl named Libby and talks with her so intently that he misses his stop. After getting off in an unfamiliar area, he is amazed and flabbergasted when he finds himself standing in front of the headquarters of the Masked Mutant -- after all, the Masked Mutant is just a comic book character. Skipper gets scared and flees when he thinks someone in the building is watching him. A few days later, Skipper receives a special-delivery comic about the headquarters of the Masked Mutant. He decides to pay another visit to the mysterious building with his friend Libby. Once inside, Libby and Skipper take an elevator down to the basement, where they become separated. Left alone, Skipper finds a pile of sketches of the Masked Mutant -- and of himself as well. Turning around, he sees the Masked Mutant coming toward him and screams in horror. In part two of this tale, which begins with scenes from part one, Skipper realizes that the Masked Mutant figure coming at him is just a cardboard cut-out being carried by Libby. The two leave the building, promising never to return. That night, Skipper receives another special-delivery comic, in which the heroic Galloping Gazelle is tied to a chair in the basement of the Masked Mutant's headquarters. According to the comic, the Galloping Gazelle is waiting for "the kid" to save him. Knowing that he must be "the kid," Skipper returns to the headquarters and frees the superhero, who then asks for Skipper's help in defeating the Masked Mutant. However, when the Galloping Gazelle comes face to face with the evil creature, he decides that he is too old to be a superhero and exits the building, leaving Skipper alone to defend the world against the Masked Mutant. At the end of his adventure, Skipper learns that his experiences have made an indelible mark on his life. Commercials deleted.
