HAPPY DAYS: RICHIE FIGHTS BACK (TV)

Summary

One in the series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, Ralph's record-breaking pinball game is interrupted by two hoodlums, Frankie and Rocko. Meanwhile, Richie loses some "points" on a date with Stephanie when Frankie and Rocko take his parking space. The situation worsens when the hoods make Richie imitate the pinball machine's sound effects. Richie, Potsie, and Ralph are sick of Frankie and Rocko scaring everybody. Fonz arrives and mediates the situation. Later, a humiliated Richie asks Fonz if he is a coward for backing down, thinking he should take self-defense jujitsu classes at Arnold's with Matsumo Takahashi. Meanwhile, Joanie has problems with a date who is "all lips." Back home, Howard claims he can show Richie how to box like he learned in the army, but that proves a failure. Later, Richie, Potsie, Ralph, and Joanie go to a self-defense class taught by Arnold -- a.k.a. Matsumo Takahashi. There, Joanie "flips" Richie, embarrassing him. Afterward, Richie speaks with Fonz who realizes that Richie has reached "the pits." Fonz decides to give Richie his secret to fighting: successfully intimidating the opponent, thus never having to engage in combat. By morning, Richie is showing his new hard-nosed side to his family, trying to sound tough. Later, at Al's, Richie tries his new persona on Frankie and Rocko but it doesn't work. Thus, Fonz gives Richie some new advice: get a reputation for toughness. When Richie does his "crazed" act, the technique works and the two hoodlums finally disappear. Commercials deleted.
