IN SEARCH OF. . . : UFO COVERUPS (TV)

Summary

One in this documentary series, hosted by Leonard Nimoy, that explores unexplained phenomena. This program examines the possibility of government cover-ups of UFO sightings and crashes. Topics discussed include the following, among others: the first UFO stories that publicly surfaced; the way UFOs were tracked by radar but were too fast to be caught by the U.S. Air Force planes; the reason many people feel that the government is covering up the UFO phenomenon; and the reason that Roswell, New Mexico, became a site for frequent UFO sightings and supposed crashes. Next, Col. Robert Friend comments on how good the cover-up would have to be in order to keep it hidden from the public and government officials for so long, and Major Jesse Marcel explains why he could not discuss the crash of a UFO in 1947, even though he was in charge of the situation. Other topics covered include: the amount of debris in the Roswell crash; claims by the FBI that the debris was an experimental radar kite; the location where UFO debris and alien creatures are allegedly stored under highly confidential circumstances; whether the government has a motive in keeping this information a secret; comments by author Ray Fowler on why he finds himself vulnerable to government pressure when writing about UFOs and aliens; reasons that people have kept quiet about their sightings; secrets of the infamous Hangar 18; and the way nobody seems to know for sure whether a massive cover-up exists.
