HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: THE ECHO OF THUNDER (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This made-for-television movie dramatizes changes in the Ritchie family encounters when they unexpectedly gain a new member of the family. Larry and Gladwyn Ritchie operate a palm tree farm in the wilds of Australia with their three children, Peal, Opal, and Jasper. Although the family is close-knit, Gladwyn is often tough and distant with her children because of her own hard childhood as an orphan. Larry has also endured hardships ever since his first wife, Cheryl, left him and disappeared with their three year-old daughter, Lara. Only through their mutual love have Larry and Gladwyn healed. When they learn that Cheryl is dying, young Lara goes to live with the Ritchies. And while Larry is excited about the reunion, Gladwyn feels threatened. Lara's transition to the Ritchie household is a difficult one, complicated by her pain over her mother's death. She finds herself challenged by Gladwyn's hostile attitude, the chores on the farm, the wilderness, and the new community. When her father goes on a road trip, Lara's relationship with a special dog is the only aspect of her new home life she can tolerate. But just as Lara gives up hope of ever belonging, Gladwyn comes to a realization that allows the entire Ritchie family, including Lara, to solidify their bonds. Includes commercials and promos. This program is closed-captioned.
Cataloging of this program was made possible by Hallmark Cards, 1998.
