TWO OF A KIND: A VERY CARRIE CHRISTMAS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Kevin Burke, a Chicago-based single father trying to raise twin eleven-year-old daughters, tomboyish Mary-Kate and the status-conscious Ashley. In this episode, the girls are excited to be out of school for the two-week Christmas break. Unfortunately, Kevin isn't quite yet on vacation with tons of exams to still grade and gift shopping to do. Kevin and the girls invite Carrie to dine with them on Christmas Eve and she offers to help cook. Later, Taylor arrives to pick up his tutoring check, and Mary-Kate tries to stall while Ashley races to get some mistletoe. Then, Kevin, Carrie, and the girls go out to find a Christmas tree. There, Carrie runs into Father Conrad who runs the mission's Christmas tree yard. Carrie convinces the Burkes to get a "lonely," smallish tree. Afterward, Carrie runs into her friend Walter, who happens to be homeless. Back home, Carrie enlists fellow student Paul to help her decorate before Eddie arrives with some gifts. Then, Carrie, Mary-Kate, and Ashley begin work on the dinner. However, Kevin is shocked to see that Carrie carved the turkey, eliminating the skin and other "tasty" parts. Pushed to the limit, Kevin then asks Carrie to give him back "his" Christmas. She agrees, just as Walter arrives at the door as Carrie's dinner guest. Kevin puts on a stoic face but he is clearly unhappy, chewing out Carrie in private for inviting "Ratso Rizzo." During the meal, Walter explains how his finances got depleted and he became homeless. Then, when the girls go to open their presents they find them missing -- along with Walter. Thus, Kevin, Carrie, and the girls rush to the tree lot hoping to find Walter. Instead, they find their gifts being distributed amongst the homeless. Father Conrad is confused however, thinking the Burkes donated them. Finally, Walter returns, apologizing for what he did and Kevin lets him off the hook. Includes commercials.
