SEX AND THE CITY: THE BABY SHOWER (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Carrie Bradshaw, a single Manhattanite who writes a popular sex-advice column for a newspaper while dishing out dating advice and dirt with her three closest friends. In this episode, the girls attend a baby shower for their friend Laney, a former wild party girl who is now a married woman who has settled down in the suburbs. All four of them are dying to find out how she is adjusting to her new life, and they are secretly hoping that she's miserable. Charlotte is outraged to learn that Laney may give her baby the secret name that Charlotte made up as a child, and she becomes even more upset when she considers that her dreams of marriage and motherhood may have passed her by. Meanwhile, Carrie doesn't get her period and is afraid she may be pregnant. She wonders if she would be a good mother, and buys a home pregnancy kit she is afraid to use. Later, Samantha throws herself an "I Don't Have a Baby" shower. Laney, who is tired of staid suburbia, attends the shower and makes a fool of herself, much to the delight of her "friends."
