SOUTH PARK: CHINPOKOMON (TV)
Summary
One in this series of animated programs for adults about the town of South Park, which is populated by an oversexed school chef, a psychotic teacher, Jesus Christ, and a group of acerbic, foul-mouthed youngsters. In this episode, the children of South Park become obsessed with a new Japanese animation program and its accompanying line of toys. None of the adults understand their childrenÕs fascination with Chinpokomon -- a nonsensical cartoon populated by bizarre creatures whose mission is to destroy "the evil empire." However, the kids are all enthralled with the new fad and press their parents to buy them all the latest Chinpokomon toys and accessories. Only Kyle lags behind in the Chinpokomon fad because his parents foolishly encourage him to state his individuality by refusing to follow every trend. Soon the local toy store owner detects the hidden messages of Chinpokomon concerning the evil American capitalist empire, and JapanÕs plans to take over the world, starting with another attack on Pearl Harbor. However, when the toy store owner and other American consumers complain about the toysÕ dangerous messages, Emperor Hirohito and his aide distract them by praising American menÕs impressively large genitals. The situation reaches the crisis level when the Japanese corporation that produces Chinpokomon organizes Chinpokomon weekend camps all across the U.S. in order to brainwash American children. When the children return home from camp speaking Japanese and making plans for the Japanese takeover, the adults of South Park finally take action. At the last moment before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, StanÕs mother hatches a surefire plot to end the fascination American children have with the mindless toys. Unfortunately, help comes too late to save Kenny, who never recovers from a seizure provoked by excessive Chinpokomon video game playing. Commercials deleted.
