SEX AND THE CITY: THE FREAK SHOW (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Carrie Bradshaw, a single Manhattanite who writes a popular sex-advice column for a newspaper while dishing out dating advice and dirt with her three closest friends. In this episode, Samantha reveals to her friends that the wealthy lawyer she is dating is a sadomasochistic pervert behind closed doors. Miranda replies that she is not surprised. "If a man is over thirty and single," she opines, "there's something wrong with him." Charlotte begins an affair with a man who is something of a legend for his voracious sexual appetite and considerable prowess. Carrie begins to consider Miranda's statement about men and decides after a series of bad dates with a sociopath, a rich kleptomaniac, and a soulless documentary filmmaker that all men over thirty must be freaks. Charlotte argues that if this is so, she has found a "good freak." After her seemingly neverending string of bad luck, Carrie meets a nice man named Ben in Central Park. The well heeled editor of a hip political magazine, Ben outwardly displays no really unusual behavior or quirks; in fact, he might even be more stable than Carrie. Samantha decides that she would become more comfortable with herself if she underwent some plastic surgery. Miranda goes on a "blind double date" with Carrie, Ben, and Ben's friend Luke -- who turns out to be a freak. Charlotte's friends begin to question whether her new boyfriend really is a "good freak" when they find out that the couple's entire relationship is limited to the bedroom.
