FREAKS AND GEEKS: CHOKIN' AND TOKIN' (TV)
Summary
One in this series about two distinct groups of high schoolers in 1980 Michigan -- the Freaks, hoodish outcasts-by-choice who love heavy metal, cars, and defying authority; and the Geeks, physically and socially underdeveloped kids who revel in science fiction and impersonations of their comedy idols. In this episode, after Bill tells the whole civics class about Neal's psoriasis, Sam's weak stomach, and his own allergy to peanuts, the Geeks decide that they need to start acting cooler. Meanwhile, Lindsay and the rest of the Freaks are worried about Nick's growing marijuana addiction, so Daniel decides to set an example by getting rid of his stash, but Mr. Rosso catches him and confiscates it. Sam and Neal bail on Bill, deciding to hang out with girls instead of going to a sci-fi convention. Nick stays clean for five days, but is soon back to his old routine, so Lindsay tries to lecture him about pot addiction and he gets angry. Back at school, Alan White spikes Bill's sandwich with peanuts to test Bill's allergy, and Bill ends up comatose in the hospital. Realizing that she doesn't know what pot is all about, Lindsay decides to smoke a joint. She ends up too high to babysit for the Johnsons, so she asks Millie to help her get through the evening. Alan goes to the hospital and apologizes to Bill, even though he is still unconscious, confessing that he only makes fun of the Geeks because they have never included him. Lindsay and Millie manage to get through the evening and come to terms with each other, but in the end they realize that their futures lie along very different paths. Bill awakens from his coma and admits that he heard Alan's confession. He tries to make up for the past by inviting Alan to the sci-fi convention, but it's too late for them to become friends. Commercials deleted.
