MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 130} {MARY HAS A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN ON NATIONAL TELEVISION} (TV)

Summary

The second of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mary is questioned on "The David Susskind Show" by a panel of experts in the fields of media and human relations, and she gets frustrated over their barrage of questions about her personal life. After lashing out at the panel, she recites the many horrors she has been through. She soon begins rambling and has a nervous breakdown on the air, which lands her in a hospital's psychiatric ward. Meanwhile, Jimmy Joe tells Charlie that he fears for Loretta's safety, and Charlie breaks into the Jeeters' motel room and fires his rifle just as Merle is trying to seduce Loretta. Clete Mizenheimer closes the show by interviewing Norman Lear about the upcoming season for the series. Commercials deleted.
