ROSWELL: MAX IN THE CITY (TV)

Summary

One in this sci-fi series, based on the "Roswell High" book series, about teenage alien-human hybrids living in Roswell, New Mexico, as they try to find a way home. In this episode, Max and Tess tour New York City before the interstellar summit. Meanwhile, Rath and Lonnie meet with Nicholas to discuss what to do with them. Rath yells at Nicholas for considering him and Lonnie -- and not Michael and Isabel -- to be the duplicate "rejects." Later, Rath and Lonnie lead Max and Tess to their underground sewer lair. Lonnie tells Max that he needs to pass a test before he is made the king. Back in Roswell, Isabel and Michael worry about Max. At the same time, Maria asks Liz if she had sex with Kyle. Liz says that she did. That night, Liz finds Ava sleeping in the alley while Max meets with the emissary's vessel, who tests him before declaring that he is indeed the king. Afterward, Rath explains the emissary's power to Max. In the middle of the night, Liz wakes up Maria to speak with her. Liz explains how a version of Max from the future told her about the world coming to an end, and why she had to dupe present-day Max into falling out of love with her. She also admits that appearing to have slept with Kyle was part of the plan. Meanwhile, Brody has arrived in New York City himself, being channeled by an alien presence to participate in the conference. Back in the sewers, Rath explains the workings of their home planet's inhabitants to Max and Tess. Rath wants Max to cut a deal at the upcoming summit in order to get them headed home. The next day, Ava discusses her love for Zan with Liz, and how he was murdered by Rath and Lonnie. When Liz tells Ava how Max brought her back to life, Ava tells her that she's now "different." Max calls Isabel and asks her if she is interested in finally going home. Ava finally tells Liz that Rath and Lonnie will probably kill Max. At the summit, Max meets with Brody and those representing aliens of the three other planets, as well as Nicholas. Meanwhile, Liz, Isabel, Michael, and Ava try to figure out a way to warn Max; eventually Isabel is forced to try and "dream-walk" him. Max goes outside to discuss with Tess whether he should take the deal with Nicholas and the others. Meanwhile, when Isabel can't reach Max, Ava tells Liz to try the technique. Back at the summit, Max refuses to accept Nicholas and the others' offer. Later on the streets, Rath berates Max for his decision not to relinquish the granolith. Then, a vision of Liz, courtesy of the dream-walk, is able to save Max from Rath and Lonnie. They kidnap Tess, but Max later finds her. Tess swears that she wouldn't let Rath and Lonnie inside her mind. Max returns home to discuss with Isabel what happened, revealing that he refused to leave her and Michael behind. Brody asks Maria why his mind was taken over by aliens yet again. Liz bids a fond farewell to Ava. Finally, Max thanks Liz for saving his life and asks if they can try to be friends again.
