MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE: ANGELS IN THE SNOW (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Mary Richards, a single career woman in a television newsroom. In this episode, Mary finds fun on a first date making snow angels with a younger man, Stephen. Rhoda meets him and later says Mary lives in a "shampoo commercial." However, Mary is confused by Stephen never asking for her phone number. At work, Mary and her co-workers discuss their weekends, with Ted really hoping that people want to hear about his. Then, Stephen calls Mary at work, asking her out on a date. That night, Rhoda returns from her ski vacation finding it interesting that Mary is still dating Stephen. Rhoda thinks Stephen isn't Mary's "type," a bit too "short" in the age department. Then, Stephen arrives for their dinner date. There, Mary admits that she's thirty-three, and Stephen reveals that he's twenty-five. Now, Mary enlists Rhoda in helping her dress like a younger woman, more of a struggle than she would have guessed. Even Lou advises Mary to end her relationship with Stephen after he visits the office. That night, at a party in Stephen's apartment, Mary and Rhoda meet his younger friends. They feel awkward in the surroundings, and, by night's end, Mary has decided that she simply can't have a relationship with Stephen. Back at the office, Mary argues with Ted that an age difference needn't be insurmountable in a relationship. He's pleased to hear that -- as he begins regaling her with the details of his own "autumn-spring" affair. Commercials deleted.
