CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION: THE STRIP STRANGLER {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of hour-long police dramas following the macabre exploits of a team of forensic criminalistics experts in downtown Las Vegas. In this episode, a signature killer claims his third victim. Investigator Gil Grissom and his team arrive on the scene, searching for clues and collecting bits of evidence, but the killer has left little track. While Grissom's team is investigating the crime scene, the sheriff gives Grissom unwelcome news: the FBI is becoming involved in the investigation. Grissom has no desire to turn the case over to anyone, but he grudgingly accepts the FBI's shadow presence on his investigation. Unfortunately, his team makes little progress in finding the person FBI Agent Colpepper has dubbed the "Strip Strangler." Against Grissom's wishes, Sara Sidel goes along with an FBI plan to act as bait for the killer. Just as Colpepper and company think they might have caught him, Colpepper learns that another victim has been found. The new victim's husband is brought in for questioning, and after a piece of evidence links him to the murder Colpepper is convinced he has found his man. Grissom disagrees; he believes that this was only a copycat killing and that the real perpetrator is still at large. For his subversive behavior and rejection of the FBI's findings, Grissom is put on leave from work. He continues the investigation off the record, with his unit by his side. A piece of evidence offers a potential lead, and the group suspects that the killer may have met his victims at a local gym. A photograph from the scene of the crime and the testimony of a security guard lead Grissom to deduce that he already knows who the killer is. Grissom finally finds his man -- and gets himself into a dangerous situation. Commercials deleted.
