UNDECLARED: RUSH AND PLEDGE (TV)
Summary
The first of two programs on this tape. One in this comedy series about a group of six college friends working out the challenges of life at the University of Northeastern California. In this episode, Hal introduces Steven to his old college buddy and fraternity brother "Dingleberry," who tells Steven that his son Books is the head of recruiting for the Theta Delta Zeta fraternity at Northeastern Cal. Dingleberry encourages Steven to try going to one of the TDZ parties so Steven and his roommates check out the scene. Steven's friends quickly lose interest in the party when they realize that there is no beer and that the girls present are only interested in the fraternity brothers, but Steven is inspired by the show of brotherhood Books puts on. The next day, after some ribbing and harassment from his roommates, Steven decides that he will expand his social options and try to rush the fraternity. Meanwhile, Lizzie decides to explore the fraternity's "Little Sisters" program, a pseudo-sorority of girls who are interested in the men of TDZ. As soon as Steven breaks the news to Books that he will be joining the pledge class, Books breaks his "nice guy" facade and orders Steven to fetch him a beer and clean his room. Convinced that these chores are in the spirit of brotherhood, Steven obliges, much to the horror of his roommates. Commercials deleted.
