BACHELOR, THE: WEEK 1 {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere in this reality series in which twenty-five single women vie for the affections of -- and a marriage proposal from -- one man, the Bachelor. In this episode host Chris Harrison presents this season's bachelor, Harvard graduate and San Francisco attorney Alex Michel. Harrison gives a brief biography of him before Michel's parents, Mary Jay and Peter Michel, discuss him. Harrison shows Michel the "bachelor pad" he will be living in for the show's six-week duration. Next, a segment shows the process of selecting the twenty-five bachelorettes. Back at the pad, Michel stands out front, greeting each of the twenty-five women as they arrive by stretch limousine for a "getting-to-know-you" party. At the party, the women drink cocktails while Michel works the room. At the party's conclusion, Michel whittles the potential wife pool down to fifteen women, each of whom he presents with a long stem rose. Clips from the upcoming season are shown.
