DREAM ON: IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SINK (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, Martin is woken from a pleasant dream about co-worker Linda by a huge rat scurrying through his apartment. Toby tells Martin that he will never get rid of the pest, so he might as well move. That night, Martin sets some traps for the rat, which fail to capture him. The next day, Martin and Jeremy find that the rat has somehow gotten into the refrigerator and eaten all the food. Martin brings in a professional exterminator to handle the problem. However, the exterminator is scared to death when he finally encounters the creature. Martin tries to stay up all night waiting for the rat to appear so that he can whack it with a rolling pin. Martin falls asleep, though, and the rat steals his sofa cushion. The next day at the office, Linda asks Martin to accompany her to a book function. Afterward, the two return to Martin's apartment. There, Martin acts strangely, worried that the rat could pop out at any moment. Then, as the two find themselves in bed, the rat scurries across the room with Linda's dress. Soon enough, Martin is acting bizarrely, yelling at the rat, and freaking out Linda, who leaves. Furious, Martin makes another frantic -- and fruitless -- attempt to slay the rat. Finally, Martin is forced to use Toby's help to eliminate the rodent via Mr. Tribbiani, a most unconventional exterminator. Martin and Mr. Tribbiani then hunker down for a night of comparing scars, firing guns, and dealing with the call of the wild.
