Summary

Part one of two. Screened as one of The Museum of Television & Radio's "We Interrupt This Workday" lunchtime screening series. The first of two compilations of filmmaker/performer Albert Brooks's short films from the 1970s. In the first film from "The Great American Dream Machine," titled "Albert Brooks's Famous School for Comedians," Brooks presents a college for people considering a future in comedy where students learn comedy staples such as spit takes and pie throwing. In the second film, from "Saturday Night Live"'s original season, Brooks presents "traumatic" home movies from his childhood. In the third film, "The Impossible Truth," Brooks presents stories of a blind New York City cabbie, the swapping of Israel and Georgia, and the lowering of the age of sexual consent in Oregon. In the final film from 1975, Brooks, sick in bed, tries to interview his doctor Joseph Schuster.
