Summary
One in this darkly comic series focusing on a firm of brilliant but emotionally challenged attorneys in Boston.
In this episode, the conclusion of a two-part season finale, beautiful superstar Courtney Reese has been charged with attempted manslaughter after she shot a paparazzo with whom she'd had a long-standing feud. She's defended in Los Angeles by both Alan and Denny, though Denny's sole contribution is overshadowed by his outbursts of lust for the actress.
In the meantime, Brad tries to strike a plea deal for his teen-aged niece, who admits to having administered a fatal drug overdose to a classmate. When the judge gives the girl a particularly stiff sentence, Brad turns to a reluctant Shirley for help, knowing that she and the judge were once lovers.
Yet more office friction occurs as Denise employs blatantly unprofessional behavior toward the newly hired Marlene "The Squid" Stanger, as their competition to fill a partner's opening at the firm gets seriously out of control. Commercials deleted.
