INSTYLE: CELEBRITY WEDDINGS (TV)

Summary

One in this occasional series of InStyle specials which looks at the weddings of various celebrities. First, the program focuses on the wedding of "Desperate Housewives" star Marcia Cross to stockbroker Tom Mahoney. Cross discusses hearing Mahoney's voice in a flower shop and leaving her phone number with a clerk to give to him. He called her a few weeks later, starting an eight-month courtship which resulted in their engagement. The wedding was at the Ritz-Carlton in Pasadena, California. Clips show Cross's gown and veil as well as her seven flower girls. "Housewife" co-stars Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman attended the ceremony. The cocktail hour was inspired by the florist shop where the two first crossed paths. Next, the program looks at the wedding of former Miss U.S.A. Ali Landry to film director Alejandro Monteverde. Landry discusses meeting Monteverde shortly after her two-week wedding to actor Mario Lopez was annulled. She discusses getting engaged when Monteverde dressed up as a mariachi band member and presented her with a ring. Their wedding had a Spanish Colonial theme, from the setting in a four-hundred-year-old Mexican church to Landry's gown. Monteverde discusses first seeing Landry walking down the aisle. From the church, there was a festive procession through San Miguel de Allende to an eighteenth-century Colonial villa where the partying and African dancing began.

Next, the program looks at the wedding between pop stars Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley. Though event planner Mindy Weiss expected a "punk rock" wedding, instead the couple had a traditional wedding in Santa Barbara. Photos show the extensive floral decorations for the outdoor wedding ceremony. Afterward, the guests attended a "goth-flavored" reception. Weiss recreated that look for this show. Photos of the couple's four-tiered wedding cake are also shown. Next, the program looks at the "renewal" wedding of actress Joely Fisher to film director Christopher Duddy, marking their their tenth anniversary. More than 120 guests were invited to join the couple in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, for the New Year's ceremony. Footage shows their wedding and fire-lit reception, complete with circus entertainers. Next, the program looks at the wedding between actors Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Wakaya. Footage shot by the couple with an old-fashioned film camera is shown. Event planner Jo Gartin discusses the remote Fiji location. The "reception" was a meal in a four-posted bed on the beach before Spelling and McDermott enjoyed cocktails in the sand. They ultimately danced in the surf.

Next, the program looks at the wedding between actors Sean Patrick Thomas and Aonika Laurent. Thomas proposed to her in her hometown of New Orleans. With the wedding planned in New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina wrecked their plans, as well as most of the houses of Laurent's family. Determined to still have a wedding in New Orleans, Laurent and Thomas figured out a way to "make it happen." Their wedding occurred at Saint Louis Cathedral during the French Quarter Festival, causing many onlookers to gather. Footage shows the couple exchanging vows. After the ceremony, the couple was greeted by a twelve-piece brass band playing traditional second-line music. A carriage ride took Thomas and Laurent to the heart of the French Quarter for a celebration that lasted into the evening. Next, the program looks at the wedding of supermodel Niki Taylor and racecar driver Burney Lamar. Footage shows Taylor trying on gowns for an InStyle shoot. Photos show moments from Taylor and Burney's intimate wedding in San Diego. She discusses finding happiness in the wake of several personal tragedies.

Next, the program looks at the ten-year marriage between actors Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance. Bassett and Vance share their secrets to a long-lasting relationship and discuss how they became a couple after being longtime friends. Next, the program looks at the wedding between Rascal Flatts lead guitarist Joe Don Rooney and Playboy Playmate Tiffany Fallon. Rooney discusses meeting Fallon backstage. Rooney details how he proposed to Fallon. The couple had their intimate wedding at a "hideaway resort" in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. After the ceremony, dinner was served on an outdoor terrace, with Brian McKnight performing. Next, the program tells of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's wedding in Sydney, Australia, and their honeymoon at Bora Bora's St. Regis Resort. Finally, the program looks at the wedding between actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes at the medieval Odescalchi Castle near Rome, Italy, which countless celebrity guests attended. Giorgio Armani discusses designing the outfits for the bride and groom, as well as all wedding party members. Includes commercials.
