DEATH OF A SALESMAN (TV)

Summary

A special broadcast of this drama by Arthur Miller, concerning the relationship between traveling salesman Willy Loman and his two grown sons, Biff and Happy, whose lives have failed to fulfill his expectations. Lee J. Cobb plays the beleaguered, peripatetic businessman, whose advancing age, job insecurity, and fears that he is "not well-liked" are causing him to experience increasingly frequent fugue states. Flashback sequences reveal the poignant grandiosity of Willy's dreams and the hidden sources of Biff's failure and disillusionment. The drama serves as both a moving character study and a savage indictment of the hypocritical bourgeois value system. Includes commercials.
