Summary
This documentary focuses on the work of Andy Lugo and Tony Colon, New York City homicide detectives stationed in the 7th homicide zone, a six square-mile area of the South Bronx. Highlights of this portion include the following: Lugo and Colon investigate a stabbing; Lugo discusses his job; over scenes of burned and abandoned buildings, the narrator provides a social history of the Bronx; Lugo and Colon investigate a shooting and the crime is discussed back at the station house; Lugo and Colon respond to a report that gunshots were heard in an apartment building; and the two detectives talk about their feelings for crime victims and their families. Next, Lugo and Colon investigate the murder of a woman who was shot six times and stabbed; Lugo says there is no time for fear to set in but that he is "cautious" on the job; Colon discusses the use of guns in the line of duty; Lugo reviews the case of the woman who was shot six times; and the two detectives discuss their frustrations with legal technicalities and with the light sentences drawn by some of their murder suspects.
