SOAP: RETROSPECTIVE (TV)
Summary
A special retrospective edition of this comedy serial about two families, the affluent Tates and their working-class relatives the Campbells. In this special, Jessica, who was last seen on her deathbed, is in heaven waiting to meet God, but she feels she's not ready yet. She explains her reasons to her escort angel Rosemary (played by guest star Bea Arthur) and she flashes back to last season's events to prove why her family still needs her. Highlights of this flashback include: the womanizing, unfaithful lifestyle that Chester, Jessica's husband, has been leading; the numerous times Chester came crawling back to Jessica begging for forgiveness; how both her daughters, Eunice and Corinne, were in love with Dutch, a convicted murderer; some of Billy's other problems, such as falling in love with his school teacher Leslie; Burt's capture by aliens who then make a clone of him to send to Earth; Mary's realization that she's pregnant and the possibility that the baby is from the alien clone of Burt; how Danny fell in love with Polly, a black woman, and proposed marriage to her; Jodie's involvement in a bitter custody battle over his daughter; Burt's discovery that Mary is pregnant and also that he is dying from a rare blood disease; and how Burt became the new town sheriff and had a run-in with the local crime boss. Finally, Jessica looks back at herself in the hospital following the diagnosis from the doctor. Includes commercials and promos.
