HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: TEACHER, TEACHER (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This drama focuses on the relationships between a mentally handicapped boy named Freddie and two men: his teacher, Hamilton Cade, who has ruined a promising academic career with alcoholism, and handyman Charlie Carter, who may have a greater understanding of the boy than the educator. Mr. Putnam is a building designer who leaves Freddie in the care of Cade while he is away on business. Cade is a brilliant perfectionist who promises Putnam that he can teach Freddie to read. The instructor, however, is so intent on proving his teaching skills that he loses sight of the boy's needs. Freddie, meanwhile, befriends Charlie, who teaches the boy to work with tools and provides him with a playmate, his nephew Joey. The two men have a heated dispute about the kind of influence that Freddie needs, causing the handyman to be dismissed. As Putnam returns, Freddie runs away to find Charlie. Commercials deleted.
