MY LITTLE MARGIE: A FRIEND FOR ROBERTA (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy programs about widower and former silent film star Vern Albright, who lives in a hotel suite with his spirited twentysomething daughter Margie. In this episode, Margie decides that her father is spending too much time with Roberta. She then schemes with Freddie to encourage a romance between Roberta and one of her favorite entertainers, singer Angio Piazza.
After sending Vern on a wild goose chase, Margie holds a soiree in their apartment, putting Roberta, Angio and producer Martin Warnock at the top of the guest list. However, the plan backfires when Angio becomes interested in Margie, though Margie doesn't initially realize what has happened.
The next evening, Margie goes to Angio's apartment for dinner, intending to "sell" him on Roberta. When neighbor Miss Odetts tells both Vern and Freddie of Margie's plans, they head to Angio's home in hot pursuit.
Margie soon realizes -- and is insulted -- by Angio's advances. But she purposely plays into Angio's passion once Vern and Freddie bamboozle their way into his quarters. When Roberta and Miss Odetts subsequently arrive, chaos reigns and fists fly. Later, Vern and Roberta relax at Vern's apartment with Margie and Freddie, all of whom laugh as Angio appears on TV with a black eye. Commercials deleted.
