TROUBLE WITH FATHER {THE STU ERWIN SHOW}: THE PEN IS MIGHTIER (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies concerning the Erwin family: Stu, a high school principal; his wife June; and their daughters, Jackie and Joyce. In this episode, Stu's attempt to enliven the lackluster school paper by ghostwriting a gossip column goes awry. Hiding behind the nom de plume "Charlie Campus," Stu engages the readers of the campus with mildly scandalous reports, including one which places Joyce's sweetheart, Bill, in an ice cream parlor with Joyce's friend Mary. Traumatized, and unaware that she has been deliberately misled by her father, Joyce marches straight over to Mary's house and severs their friendship, an action which, in turn, sets off a chain reaction of broken hearts and bruised feelings throughout the community. Subsequently, Stu is forced to stave off the enraged readers who demand to know the identity of the phantom columnist who has disrupted their lives. Includes commercials.
