CBS TUESDAY MOVIE: STONE PILLOW (TV)
Summary
This made-for-television movie stars Lucille Ball as Florabelle, a homeless woman living on the streets of New York City. "Flora" awakens every day and scavenges for food: going through garbage and getting handouts from police officers and delivery boys. She constantly spouts off to those who will listen about someone named Sonny. One day, she meets a pretty, young runaway, Carrie, who is looking for a place to sleep. Flora takes Carrie under her wing, mentoring her about the ways of the street. Some ruffians with whom Flora had been feuding attack her and try to steal her cart. After pairing up with Carrie for a night, Flora learns that Carrie is a social worker who posed as a runaway to learn about homelessness. Feeling betrayed, a confused Flora is accidentally sent to a shelter in Brooklyn. Flora's brief stay there leads to yet more complications as Carrie seeks a way to make up for her deception.
