STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION: WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of science fiction programs about the voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the 24th century. This sequel to the original "Star Trek" series is set approximately 85 years after the journeys of the first Enterprise crew. In this episode, an alien traveler accidentally propels the Enterprise into a world where no human has ever been, and where thoughts and reality are intermingled. An arrogant Starfleet propulsion expert, Kosinski, and his alien assistant board the Enterprise to conduct tests on the warp drive engines. Cmdr. Riker and head engineer Lt. Cmdr. Argyle are skeptical of the unlikeable expert's abilities until the test is completed, when the Enterprise travels across several galaxies at a speed previously unrecorded by humans. Wesley befriends the alien assistant, who in turn, seems fascinated by Wesley. When the alien falls very ill, Wesley begins to suspect that the alien has been causing the propulsion to occur. When Kosinski and his sick assistant attempt to make a return voyage, problems occur and the Enterprise travels billions of light years forward, to a place where the crew begins to hallucinate and they risk going insane; their only hope of returning home is the dying alien. Commercials deleted.
