COLBYS, THE {DYNASTY II: THE COLBYS}: CELEBRATION {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The premiere of this nighttime serial about the wealthy Colby family of Los Angeles, California. In this episode, Jason Colby holds a press conference at his house, announcing that San Miguel Harbor in California will be the terminal for his pipeline venture; that his nephew Jeff Colby will be his equal partner; and that he, Jason, will remain at the helm of Colby Enterprises despite rumors to the contrary. Additionally, Sable is furious that Constance has given Jeff half the company -- shares that Sable feels should have gone to her three children Monica, Miles, and Bliss; Constance calls Jeff's mother, Francesca, in London, and asks her to come back home in order to give Jeff support as he adjusts to his new life with the Colbys; Constance tells brother Jason that he should share the news of his terminal illness with Sable but he declines, feeling that Sable wouldn't be able to handle it; Garrett warns Jason that someone, possibly business adversary Zachary Powers, is trying to muscle in on Colby's business dealings in China; Jeff arrives in L.A. and finds himself patronized by Jason, who tries to send him on an errand to Hong Kong; Fallon tells Miles she loves him as they travel by car from Denver back to L.A.; Monica is frustrated with her father's chauvinism when she asks to go to Hong Kong in place of Jeff and he refuses to allow her; Jason confronts Zach about his interference in China; it is learned that Constance is leading a double life, carrying on a clandestine affair with a rancher named Hutch in Bakersfield; Monica and Bliss each welcome Jeff warmly back into the Colby clan; a drunken man tries to rape Fallon in a motel room in Lake Tahoe; Bliss tells her father that her enviromental activist boyfriend, Sean, believes that Jason is buying off the EPA in order to push ahead his pipeline project; Sable and Jason give Jeff a rather chilly welcome to California before the party -- and all are shocked when Miles appears at the house and introduces his new wife. Includes commercials and promos. This program is closed-captioned. (Series ran under the title "Dynasty II: The Colbys" through January 2, 1986; afterwards as "The Colbys.")
