Summary
One in this series of music programs from the Homewood studios in Hollywood, Calif. This hour-long program features highlights from a six-hour session with singer/pianist Leon Russell and his band. Russell performs both with the band and solo in an informal studio setting. (His travelling secretary, Emily, bakes a cake for him over the course of the session.) Songs performed include "Sweet Emily," "Prince of Peace," "Honky Tonk Women," and "Big Boss Man," among others. Singer/guitarist Furry Lewis performs "John Henry." Acquisition and cataloging of this program was made possible by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
