30 ROCK: GREENZO (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the cast and production team of a sketch comedy television show. In this episode, Liz is startled when Jenna suggests that an unusually cheerful Pete is having an affair. Jack then announces that he fulfill his bosses' new environmentalist ideals by introducing a new "non-judgmental, business-friendly" superhero character, Greenzo, portrayed by the overeager Jared. Liz realizes that Kenneth is giving another one of his terrible parties, at which she is always the sole guest, and desperately tries to dodge an invitation, but Tracy offers to start an enticing rumor about the shindig. Greenzo does well on "The Today Show" promoting eco-friendly G.E. products, and Jack instructs Liz to write sketches for a recurring Greenzo segment. Kenneth then corners Jack and Liz, and though Jack refuses the party invitation, Liz reluctantly accepts. As Greenzo annoys staff members with his environmentally-conscious nagging, Tracy tells Grizz and Dotcom that certain big celebrities will be at Kenneth's party, knowing that they will quickly spread the gossip, and even Jack ends up demanding an invitation when he overhears that his boss Mr. Geiss may be there as well.
Greenzo argues with Liz about her Earth-killing habits as they attempt to write a scene together, and though Pete denies Liz's accusations, she soon finds him back at their apartment "sneaking around" with his own wife Paula. Tracy and Liz realize that the party rumors have gotten out of hand, and though Jack dismisses Liz's concerns about Greenzo, she is proven right when he openly insults the network's corporate greed on-air and suggests that global warming could be solved by taxing the very rich, like Jack and his bosses. Embarrassed by their earlier encounter, Liz begs Pete to move out, but he explains that he and his wife finally have a chance to "be a couple," having hurriedly married while in college, and Liz is forced to let him stay. Jack fires Greenzo, who remains undeterred about his plans to personally save the Earth, and everyone ends up attending Kenneth's party, which quickly turns into a raucous Bacchanalia. Kenneth sternly lectures his co-workers in the morning for their bad behavior and declares that it was his "last party ever," much to their relief. Jack lures Vice-President Al Gore to the building with the promise of a "garbage car" and attempts to convince him to be the new Greenzo, but Gore refuses and a crazed Jared barges back onto the set and, fittingly, ends up setting fire to the planet Earth prop. Commercials deleted.
