DIRTY SEXY MONEY: THE SILENCE (TV)
Summary
On in this drama series about a troubled lawyer whose life is overtaken by his employers: a super-rich, morally-challenged family in New York City. In this episode, in couples counseling, Lisa complains that Nick's role as the Darlings' "nanny" is ruining their marriage, while elsewhere Andrea and Brian fight over stowaway Brian Jr., who firmly tells them that he wishes to spend time with both parents during his school break. Tish, still awaiting her murder trial, asks Nick to get her "excused" from house arrest to attend Patrick's campaign party, and Simon coldly dumps a stunned Karen when she fails to answer his marriage proposal after a week. Jeremy, still secret dallying with Nola, asks her to secure his mother's temporary release for the party, and Tripp is outraged when Patrick declares his intentions to go public with his relationship with Carmelita if – when – he wins the governor race. Ellen's brother Chase Alexander then dramatically accuses Patrick of murdering his late wife, though Tripp reminds Nick and Patrick that her demise was an unfortunate accident and the cover-up necessary for the political race.
Jeremy offers to use his famous name to assist Lisa when she is denied rental of a fancy art gallery, and Karen, distraught over Simon, begs Nick to reason with her would-be fiancé. Nick meets with Chase, who reveals that he knows about Carmelita and knows that Ellen did not die in the fire, at the very least, though Patrick continues hiding the unpleasant truth from his girlfriend. Nick plans to move the campaign party to the Darling penthouse, but Tish explains that Jeremy has somehow arranged her temporary furlough, and Simon bluntly admits to Nick that dumping Karen will make her want him more, thus allowing him to marry her and take over the Darlings' company. Nick sternly tells Lisa that he will not "allow" her to become business partners with Jeremy, and Tripp tells Nick to "invite Chase in" to the family business with a bribe of some sort, adding that he will address Carmelita personally. Though at first reluctant, Lisa decides to sign the papers with Jeremy and conceal the truth from her husband, and Brian and Andrea both panic when Brian Jr. goes missing again.
Tripp confronts Carmelita, warning her about the "unseemly questions" that could harm Patrick's career, and Chase resentfully agrees to accept Nick's bribe and keep quiet about his sister. Jeremy dodges Nick's questions about his "friend" in the D.A.'s office, and Karen refuses to accept his warnings about Simon's dishonest intentions. Carmelita, now aware of the full story, assures Patrick that she believes his innocence in Ellen's death but still wishes him to "let her go" for his own sake, and a furious Patrick confronts his father about his selfish meddling, causing Tripp to collapse with a heart attack. At the hospital, Tripp is deemed likely to survive as Patrick learns that he has won the election and that "victories have costs," and when Brian Jr. returns from an impulsive jaunt to Coney Island, Andrea and Brian agree to attempt an amicable custody plan. Nick is left alone by Tripp's bedside as the rest of the Darlings head home, and a tearful Karen later accepts Simon's proposal. Nick "borrows" Jeremy's cell phone and discovers the truth about his affair with Nola, and back at the therapist's office, Lisa assures Nick that she secured the gallery space "all on her own."
