SANFORD: FRED HAS THE BIG ONE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, a revival of the original program, about junkyard owner Fred Sanford and his friends.

In this episode, Cliff and Cal are annoyed when Fred avoids housework yet again by claiming that he feels ill, with Cal expecting that he will soon have one of his trademark fake heart attacks. Fred then panics as he experiences real chest pain, however, and Cliff and Cal hurriedly attempt CPR when they find him unconscious on the floor. They rush him to the overcrowded emergency room, and Cal grows upset as the admitting clerk asks a series of seemingly unimportant questions before sending him in for treatment. Fred is taken to the ICU and, sure that he is going to die, makes his "last wishes" clear to Cal, including a request for Cal's own strong heart. The doctor reassures him, however, stating that he suffered only a minor attack and will make a full recovery if he takes careful precautions with his health, though Fred worries that his exciting relationship with Evelyn will prove deadly.

Later, at home, Fred happily relaxes and avoids the housework after all, telling Cal that his nagging caused the incident in the first place, but Cal sternly tells him that he is not to fake any more heart attacks, as he and Cliff genuinely care for him and were upset to find him so ill. Fred agrees – though Cal allows him "just one more" when he receives the enormous hospital bill in the mail. Commercials deleted.
