SOAP {EPISODE 35} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedic serial about two families, the affluent Tates and their working-class relatives, the Campbells.
In this episode, Jessica gives Dutch her blessing to run off with Eunice, despite his admission that he really did kill a man over a financial loan. Chester, still suffering from memory loss, is confused when Eunice bids him a heartfelt farewell; he frets that his family will have him "put away" if his mind does not heal itself soon. Elsewhere, Jodie observes Mary's distress and correctly guesses that his father is having an affair, though Mary sadly states that she has no choice but to "accept it." Bob tries to secure Mary's sewing room for his own use, and Jessica reveals that Chester – who now also believes himself to be film star Marlene Dietrich – has gone missing. When she reflects upon the new "invention" of homosexuality, Jodie shocks her by revealing that many famous historical figures were in fact gay.
Burt, deeply regretful of his one-night stand, tries to break things off with Sally, but she pleads with him to keep his promises; he awkwardly agrees to "sleep on it." Once alone, Sally places a mysterious phone call and vows that Burt will soon be a "broken man." Corinne tries to comfort her mother as Jessica worries about the still-absent Chester. When Deputy Gilmore stops by to take her missing-person report, Benson recognizes him as a childhood friend -- and a noted coward. The Major returns from fruitlessly "searching" for Chester, and Deputy Gilmore marvels that the Tate home is something of a "zoo." Elsewhere, Danny and Elaine's romantic bliss is rudely interrupted when she is kidnapped by the mob. Commercials deleted.
