KNOTS LANDING: WEAK MOMENT (TV)

Summary

One in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. In this episode, Val struggles with her feelings of regret after spending the night with Gary. Charles attempts to apologize to Abby for missing their dinner, but she is unimpressed with his gestures. When he proposes doing business together, however, she finds the deal hard to resist. Greg browses an art gallery and runs into Paige, who gives him advice on amassing an "investment collection." Gary ponders telling Jill the truth about his night with Val, but when he arrives home late, she is already suspicious and forces him to admit that he does not love her. She then confronts Val, accusing her of putting on a manipulative "helpless" act and using the children as "bait," which she angrily denies. Gary arrives with pizza for what he thinks is a family night, but Val leaves quickly, not wanting to encourage him, and Jill later packs her things and leaves him. At business meeting with Karen, Charles and Abby, Gary is aloof and distracted, and a harassed Karen ponders taking a vacation with Mack to escape her hectic work life. They attend the boring staff holiday party, though Jill and Val are both absent, and when Gary learns that Charles was Abby's first love, the two men briefly discuss the woman they have in common.

At home, Abby seems uncertain about Charles, and he prepares a special gift for her. When he goes to drop it off, he encounters Olivia, who invites him to dinner, much to Abby's frustration. Val allows Gary to come over and decorate the Christmas tree with the children, but later tells him that he cannot spend time in the home with her and must see the twins elsewhere. Charles gives Abby a special ring, but she turns it down, and he begs her for a second chance. Mack and Karen exchange gifts, and he is surprised when she presents him with two tickets to Tahiti. Jill apprehensively returns to Gary, and as Karen and Mack prepare to leave on their trip, Greg arrives with baby Meg, saying he needs a babysitter while he travels to New York on business, and Mack seems ready to postpone his vacation to watch her. Charles rents an expensive car in order to charm Abby, though she is the one to repair it when it breaks down, and they soon fall into an argument about their past and his decision to marry another woman, which he asserts was a mistaken. The fight escalates and she declares that she hates him, but the passionate pair soon ends up in bed together. Commercials deleted.
