LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: WATCH THE FUR FLY (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Laverne gets cozy with new date Jeffrey as Shirley enters the apartment and mistakenly thinks Laverne is being robbed. To get invited to Jeffrey’s business party for foreigners, Laverne tells him that she speaks seven languages. She immediately starts cramming for the party by reading foreign language books. As Shirley tests her, it’s revealed that Laverne is using cheat notes. Shirley tells Laverne that she shouldn’t lie to her date, though Laverne doesn’t listen. At the party, Jeffrey introduces Laverne to the guests while setting Shirley up with a furrier, Harold. Though Shirley is aghast at his profession, she finds Harold charming and doesn’t mention her aversion to furs.
Afterward, the girls promise to be true to themselves. So, when Jeffrey and Harold subsequently arrive at the apartment, both make full confessions. Jeffrey says he already knew about the deception, and forgives Laverne for fibbing. Harold also takes things in stride, then invites the girls to go water skiing. They immediately break their pledge and say that they’re experts on the water. Commercials deleted.
