GEORGE LOPEZ: THE UNNATURAL (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Ernie "helps" George to write his classified ad searching for his father, and Max's Little League coach stops by and tries to bribe George into taking Max out of the next game, as he is decidedly terrible at the sport. Angie is forced to agree that he is untalented, but George resolves to coach him into improving and, as motivation, shows Max his prized baseball signed by Rod Carew, Steve Garvey, Joe Morgan and Jim Palmer – all of whom stand guard beside the ball in bobblehead form – and informs his son that winning is actually more important than sportsmanship. George and Ernie take Max to the batting cages and desperately try to give him some tips, and Max continues practicing back at home, determined to make his father proud. When all of his practice balls end up on the roof, he retrieves his father's signed ball for "good luck," but it is quickly stolen and destroyed by the family dog.

Benny hurriedly fetches one of the roof balls and gets Carmen to forge the autographs, but George sees through the ruse and is furious at his son's careless actions, despite Max's protests that he was simply trying to improve his athletics talents. Angie points out that Max was clearly trying to impress his father, though George counters that he himself never had a father to impress. He is then surprised to receive advice from the four bobblehead players, who inform him that he is pushing Max too hard and needs to consider whether his son even truly enjoys the sport. George assures Max that his happiness is more important that winning after all, and Max admits that he would prefer to quit baseball and spend more time with his friends. Relieved, George decides to keep the mangled ball, choosing to see it as a positive reminder of his son. Includes commercials and promos.
