JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! {DONALD TRUMP, CARROT TOP, RADIANT} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of live late-night talk shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. This episode's guests include reality TV star Donald Trump, comedian Carrot Top and musical guest Radiant. In his opening monologue, Kimmel touches on the following topics, among others: the sixth-season premiere of "American Idol," including judge Randy Jackson's signature catchphrase, angry reactions from rejected contestants and peculiar behavior from eccentric judge Paula Abdul; the previous night's Golden Globe awards, including an appearance by California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and by the deadpan president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, jokingly portrayed by Guillermo Rodriguez; a conflict on the celebrity reality series "The Surreal Life" between cast members Verne Troyer and Chyna, with sage advice from Vanilla Ice; and a typically confusing interview with President Bush.
The first guest, Trump, joins Kimmel on stage and discusses: his childish feud with "disgusting" Rosie O'Donnell, about whom Kimmel has repeatedly joked; "untruths" from Barbara Walters, who defended bringing O'Donnell onto "The View"; a surprising connection between Kimmel and Trump's fathers; photographs from Trump's time at the New York Military Academy, to which he was sent because of his poor behavior; his new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; his claims of hobnobbing with various celebrities, including "nasty characters" Frank Sinatra and Johnny Carson; the current sixth season of "The Apprentice," which takes place in Los Angeles, and the upcoming live finale; the show's "smart" contestants and allegedly "tremendous" ratings; and his ownership of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, which differ from the Miss America contest. Kimmel then introduces a short scene in which an O'Donnell lookalike considers defacing Trump's Walk of Fame star with meatballs.
Next, Carrot Top joins Kimmel and comments on his famous use of comedy props, some of which require excessive time and money to construct; his surprisingly muscular physique; his inspiration from the old days of vaudeville comedy; whether he inspires younger comedians; and his hectic world schedule.
Finally, the winner of Kimmel's "best unsigned band" contest, Radiant, performs their song "That Girl" off of their album "We Hope You Win" in a pre-taped segment in Times Square. Includes commercials and promos.
